The National ICT Industry Alliance, NICTIA, has membership that represents a wide cross section of the Australian information and communications technology industry. NICTIA provides a ‘clearing house’ where organisations representing the interests of industry, ICT professionals and public R&D institutions can meet to exchange views and discuss initiatives to advance promotion and development of ICT in Australia. Australia’s economic prosperity over the last decade, and for the foreseeable future, is critically dependent on productivity gains underpinned by innovation in information and communications technologies (ICTs). The two ‘sweet spots’ on the innovation continuum are, first, where the community makes innovative use of existing ICT and, second, where the ICT industry creates innovative technology. |
